Spinning During Pregnancy: Yes or No? 🤰🏻🚲

Pregnancy brings a lot of changes, but if you love staying active, it doesn’t automatically mean you have to give up your favorite classes. And what about spinning? The good news is that during an uncomplicated pregnancy, riding a stationary bike can be one of the ways to stay active throughout this special time. ✨

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), physical activity during an uncomplicated pregnancy is generally considered safe and beneficial, with stationary cycling listed as one of the safe forms of exercise. If you were already active before pregnancy, you may be able to continue your exercise routine after consulting with your doctor.

Above All, Listen to Your Body 💪🏼

Every pregnancy is different, and the way you feel may change from one class to another. There’s no need to keep the same pace as before or push yourself through every part of the workout at full intensity.

Feel free to lower the resistance, slow down, stay in the saddle, or take a break whenever you need to. A helpful way to monitor your intensity is the “talk test” – at a moderate intensity, you should still be able to comfortably hold a conversation while exercising.

As your belly grows, you may also want to adjust your bike setup. Raising the handlebars can help you find a more comfortable and upright riding position. Remember to stay well hydrated and avoid overheating.
